The Sales Development Representative (SDR) builds referral-source relationships with healthcare providers and their practices by combining outbound outreach (phone, fax, email).The SDR role partners with Business Development Managers (BDMs) and Clinic Directors (CDs) to prioritize opportunities and drive referral growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify and prioritize targets using several different reports concurrently with ability to pivot between reports daily.

  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail at the highest level when documenting provider contact details, ensuring all information is accurate, complete, and consistently maintained across multiple reports.

  • Ability to manage a high volume of targeted healthcare providers and practices. Responsible for reaching out to providers through outbound channels (phone, fax, email), maintaining consistent communication, and managing relationships to uncover and maximize growth opportunities. This includes closely tracking referral trends and proactively engaging new and existing providers to drive referral-source growth.

  • Effective relationship management relies on seamless teamwork across sales, operations, and other internal departments. This collective approach fosters strong provider relationships and drives mutual success.

  • Drive measurable growth (referral increases, improved consistency, or successful handoff to BDM/CD).

  • Ability to consultative probe: Ask targeted questions to uncover referral workflows, decision-makers, patient needs, and partnership options.
  • Data stewardship: Maintain accurate records, strong documentation, and duplicate prevention.
  • Process discipline: Follow cadence and logging standards; know when to re-engage vs. monitor.
  • Territory/prioritization: Plan work using referral volume, trends, specialty fit, and regional priorities.
  • Collaboration and influence: Align with BDMs/CDs/SDRs on ownership, approvals, and introductions. Teamwork makes the dream work.
  • Judgment and risk awareness: Recognize sensitive scenarios and escalate appropriately to the appropriate department and contact.

Tools, Systems & Resources Used

  • Salesforce: Manage Contacts/Accounts, ownership fields, activity logging, notes, duplicates, related contacts, and facility selection.
  • Reports/analytics via Yellowfin: Referral reports, and regional/focus clinic reports.
  • Online research: Practice/provider sites and web search, Social Media (Facebook/Instagram) and LinkedIn
  • Teams resources: Shared folders, tracking docs, and marketing assets (flyers, service grids, insurance lists, location cards).
  • Communication: Phone, fax, and email for outreach; Teams for internal coordination.

Qualifications

  • Required: Experience in outbound calling/sales development/customer service or healthcare outreach; strong writing skills; high attention to detail; comfort with CRM (Salesforce preferred) and spreadsheets; ability to run a repeatable, well-documented workflow.
  • Preferred: Healthcare referrals/medical office experience; multi-location/provider org exposure; Salesforce structures/logging; report-driven prioritization; coordination with field sales/internal clinic leadership, provider relations.
